Bullet For My Valentine icon Matt Tuck talked about his wish to be a great metal band like Metallica in the music scene in a recent conversation with the Mark And Me Podcast. Tuck revealed that Metallica’s ‘Black Album’ was the reason he started his music career.
In 1986, Metallica initially achieved commercial success with the third studio album, ‘Master of Puppets.’ The album was one of the heaviest albums and received many positive reviews from music critics. It also put the building stones of thrash metal in that period.
With the 1991 record ‘The Black Album,’ the band embraced a heavier and slower sound, unlike their previous thrash metal style albums. The record included the group’s best-known songs like ‘Nothing Else Matters,’ ‘The Unforgiven,’ and ‘Enter Sandman.’ It became among the best-selling albums of all time globally.
Metallica became a part of the ‘Big Four’ of thrash metal representatives with its instrumentals and aggressive sound, along with Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer. The fans and musicians have always praised the success of Metallica since the beginning of its reputation. In a previous conversation, Anthrax’s Scott Ian described Metallica as the leader of the big four.
Also, Metallica’s success has inspired the upcoming metal bands. Bullet For My Valentine started its music career by playing Metallica and Nirvana covers. The band later became the opening act for Metallica and Guns N’ Roses in 2006.
Recently, Bullet For My Valentine’s Matt Tuck mentioned in an interview the importance of Metallica in his music career. Tuck said he wanted to see his band as successful as Metallica in the metal scene. The vocalist recalled the moment he decided to be on the metal scene after first listening to ‘The Black Album.’ As the rocker stated, discovering Metallica was a turning point in his life as his musical journey started after this moment.
