Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti recently spoke to Classic Rock and discussed rock music’s existence in the following years. The musician was sure that it would never die but could change.
KISS bassist Gene Simmons ignited the longtime argument about rock music’s longevity and future, saying that rock music is dead and the murderers are the streaming platforms and file-sharing that made it impossible for the young musicians to earn any money.
For that reason and the lack of successors of the artists like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Metallica with many more became his main arguments. Countless musicians such as Greta Van Fleet’s Josh Kiszka, Justin Hawkins, and Taylor Momsen disagreed with him and showed themselves as the living proof.
In addition to them, Tremonti thought that ‘rock and roll will always thrive’ even though people’s tastes for music can differ in the future after the reporter wanted to know his ideas about the genre’s destiny. The musician also mentioned Alter Bridge’s recording schedule, so they will continue to make music in 2030.
Tremonti said in his interview that:
“Absolutely, there will. That’s just around the corner; time flies. Alter Bridge makes records in three-year cycles, so it’ll be just a couple of records later. Rock’n’roll will always thrive. It might not be the popular music of choice, but there are still millions of us that love it.”
Following Tremonti and other rock stars’ words about rock is murdered claim, there are very few people who could agree with Simmons. However, most musicians acknowledged the changes in the industry during the internet era and the new challenges they had to face.
