Rush’s Alex Lifeson Says His Touring Days Are Over

Rush’s Alex Lifeson recently spoke to Guitar World and revealed that his touring days are over. However, he might still think about doing a couple of shows with a group of musicians, including his bandmate from Envy of None, Maiah Wynne.

Although Rush officially disbanded in 2018, Alex Lifeson decided to continue his music career and give it a new direction. In 2021, the guitarist formed his new side project, Envy of None, along with bassist Andy Curran, vocalist Maiah Wynne, and guitarist Alfio Annibalini. The band immediately started to work on new music. After writing new materials together, they entered the studio for their debut record.

The first self-titled Envy of None album was recorded remotely due to the pandemic and released on April 8, 2022. The two singles titled ‘Liar’ and ‘Look Inside’ arrived before the album. The band’s debut record was composed of eleven tracks in total. The album was praised for its balanced structure and diverse sounds. It was indeed a departure from Rush’s sound, which allowed Alex Lifeson to try something new.

During a recent interview, Lifeson talked about whether he had any plans to tour with Envy of None in the upcoming days. The guitarist thinks that his touring days are over, and he is not interested in doing any concert tours in support of their new album, at least for now. Alex Lifeson explained that he had it enough while constantly touring with Rush. Yet, he might still think about doing a few shows with a group of musicians, including his bandmate from Envy of None, Maiah Wynne.

Here is what Alex Lifeson thinks about touring:

“My touring days are over, but we would certainly put together a group of musicians that could go on the road with Maiah and present a cool show. I would maybe do a couple of dates here and there, but I’m certainly not going to go on the road for 200 days a year on a tour bus. Been there, done it.”
