Aerosmith recently announced on their Instagram account that their frontman Steven Tyler checked himself into rehab, putting their Las Vegas residency on hold. Rock star and YouTuber Justin Hawkins made a video featuring the announcement to show his support for the iconic frontman.

Throughout his well-known career with Aerosmith, Steven Tyler has suffered from drug and alcohol addiction as he has not hidden his struggles from his fans. In the ’80s, his bandmates and management encouraged him to get sober. Since then, the frontman didn’t seem to have significant addiction problems.

After establishing half a century-year-old career and facing problems in his personal life and health, the rock star recently announced via his band that he relapsed. This news caused the cancellation of Aerosmith’s Las Vegas residency. They stated that Tyler checked himself in on a treatment program.

Here is the announcement made by Aerosmith on Instagram:

“As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years. After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery.

We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must cancel our first set of Las Vegas Residency dates this June and July while he focuses on his well-being.”

They added:

“We will continue our 2022 dates starting in September, and we’ll let you know any further updates as soon as we can. We are devastated that we have inconvenienced many of you, especially our most loyal fans, who often travel great distances to experience our shows. Thank you for your understanding and support for Steven during this time.”

Having gone through similar problems, Justin Hawkins related with the singer and dedicated his latest video to support him. He stated that his bravery in spotting the problem and voluntarily quitting is inspiring. According to Hawkins, addiction is challenging, and taking the first steps to get over it is very encouraging for everyone to hear.

Justin Hawkins showed his support in his video by stating:

“That’s another encouraging sign. They’re saying that they’re putting the residency on hold. So they still anticipate a successful 28 days or however long he’s in the facility. I love the way he had the awareness to check himself in like that rather than being dragged kicking and screaming after doing half of those shows and then being a disaster. He’s inspiring, isn’t he? He’s great.

It’s a constant battle, I think. Whatever your job is, it’s hard. So, that’s it then. He’s doing the right stuff. They’re super vague about the exact nature of the program. I mean, you’d have to assume it’s something 12 steps. Those things usually, statistically, have the best chance of success.”
