In a recent Twitter post, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx revealed that the band played ‘The Dirt’ live for the first time during their rehearsing for the upcoming Stadium Tour. In addition, the rocker hinted at details from the tour’s setlist they will be performing once they hit the road.
Mötley Crüe had signed a no-touring contract that prevented them from touring starting from 2015. They had made sure the fans knew that this contract was solid and they could not disobey. Even though they signed an agreement to never perform again under the name of Mötley Crüe, they stated that they would be working on new music.
The band couldn’t sit back; instead, they started to work on new projects. In 2019, Mötley Crüe released their biopic ‘The Dirt’ and worked together for the soundtrack. They released the title song ‘The Dirt’ and added tracks like ‘Ride With The Devil’ and ‘Crash and Burn’ to the soundtrack, along with a cover of Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin.’
After the release of the Netflix movie, the band obtained a brand new fan base and received demands from their older fans to resume touring. The band couldn’t resist it, and they found a loophole in their non-touring agreement. They scheduled the Stadium Tour with Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett but got interrupted by the pandemic restrictions.
Fortunately, the long-awaited tour begins in less than a month, and the bands have already started rehearsing. Recently, Nikki Sixx revealed some songs from the setlist and stated that they would also play ‘The Dirt’ from the biopic’s soundtrack in the shows. It was the first time rehearsing the song live, and Sixx stated it sounded excellent.
Here is what Sixx tweeted about playing ‘The Dirt’ for the first time:
“First time playing ‘The Dirt’ live as a band. Really kicks ass live.”
He continued in another tweet:
“Spit it out. Take a shot. Get pushy. Maybe we might add your favorite songs to the Stadium Tour setlist. We want old hell, new as f*ck, and deep classics. Come on. Spit it f*cking out.”
