KISS bassist Gene Simmons shared a post including a photo with Elton John’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin on his official Twitter account. Simmons praised the lyricist in many ways.
Taupin and John’s paths crossed when they answered the same advertisement in the New Musical Express by Liberty Records in 1967. The company was looking for new talents, but the two musicians couldn’t pass auditions, and John went home with an envelope that included a poem from Taupin.
Since then, they have pursued a very successful musical partnership and collaborated for countless Elton John hits such as ‘Rocket Man,’ ‘Levon,’ ‘Crocodile Rock,’ ‘Honky Cat,’ and ‘Tiny Dancer.’ The singer and Taupin co-wrote such iconic songs that almost every fan appreciated Taupin’s talent as a songwriter.
As one of them, Simmons wanted to give credit to Taupin by defining him as a legendary lyricist, powerful and attractive man in his recent tweet. It seems that not only rock and pop music lovers but also the musicians know that Elton John’s songwriting partner is very talented.
Simmons’ tweet read:
“The legendary lyricist for Elton, Bernie Taupin. A powerful and attractive man.”
