RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Releases Statement In Support Of Reproductive Justice

Rage Against the Machine have released a statement in response to the leaked Supreme Court draft that appears to indicate the Court's intention to overturn Roe- vs. Wade, stating the group will “fight against any attempts to restrict or control reproductive freedoms."

Rage Against the Machine stands in support of reproductive justice and will continue to fight against any attempts to restrict or control reproductive freedoms. Criminalizing access to abortion will only add to the suffering disproportionately felt by poor, BIPOC and undocumented communities. The constant rightward shift of both major parties should alarm us all—a wakeup call that we desperately need to organize radical people power against a warfare state that continues its assault on people’s lives.”

As for this lowly discourse peddler, I find the move by our nation’s highest court to interfere with a woman’s right to choose to be just another terrible example of the trampling intolerance of our secular values as a nation by a power-hungry immoral Christian majority and the gang-green right-wing of American politics. Our shift towards authoritarian values at increasing speed is as alarming as anything the nation faces at this critical juncture, which can only be described as an existential crisis in America.

To slightly paraphrase another discourse peddler, “Don’t look now to Russia, it might be your homeland” — where our heads of state already inquire about bombing Mexico and shooting our own people in the legs for exercising their first amendment rights. To thinks this stops at overturning Roe is to be a blind man in the dark.
