Storm Corrosion, the band featuring Porcupine Tree guitarist and vocalist Steven Wilson and current Opeth guitarist and vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt, released their debut album (and only album) on May 7, 2012. Now a full decade later and Wilson is planning on reissuing the album with a handful of bonus material.

"It's exactly 10 years today since Storm Corrosion – my collaboration with Mikael Åkerfeldt – was originally released, still one of my favourites, a strange-beautiful spiritual experience of an album. Look out later this year for an anniversary edition featuring a brand new Dolby Atmos mix, a live version of 'Drag Ropes' recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in 2015, and other bonus material. More details soon…"

This news isn't exactly surprising, given that Wilson said in a previous interview he was working on a reissue. Wilson also mentioned that he and Åkerfeldt also might begin working on a new record as well, saying that now might be the time to do one.

"So [the reissue has] been mixed, it sounds beautiful. The album is going to be remixed in Atmos. And I think we're going to do a reissue of that. And that could be good time to do another record. Obviously, there's a geographical issue. We can't just get together on Tuesday nights and jam and we don't want to do it by email. We did Storm Corrosion when we were in the same room at the same time the whole time we made that record, and we wouldn't want to do a record any other way. I like to think we'll do it eventually."

So who knows – Wilson is about to embark on a bunch of reunion dates with Porcupine Tree, while Åkerfeldt is wrapping up an Opeth tour and just released his soundtrack for the Netflix drama Clark. In other words, the dudes are busy… but here's hoping.
