The Rolling Stones announced with a Twitter post that they shared the unreleased recordings of ‘Tumbling Dice’ and ‘Hot Stuff’ from their 1977 shows at El Mocambo.
In 1977, the Rolling Stones played shows at the 300-capacity Toronto club when the band arrived at the location for two secret performances. A local radio contest was organized in the city, and the prize was tickets to see the local Canadian band, April Wine. An unknown band called the Cockroaches would support the band.
The Cockroaches were none other than the Rolling Stones. April Wine opened for them, and the Stones took the stage as headliners. They played some of their hit songs along with some covers. The band announced in March 2022 that they would finally release legendary El Mocambo live shows for the first time on an album on May 13, 2022. The two new tracks from the album, ‘Rip This Joint’ and ‘It’s Only Rock and Roll,’ had arrived a month ago.
Now, the band shared other unreleased recordings, named ‘Tumbling Dice’ and ‘Hot Stuff.’ The band stated that their fans could find the new tracks on various music platforms in their recent Twitter post. They also reminded the fans that their upcoming album, which includes the live shows at El Mocambo, will arrive on May 13, and they can pre-order it if they want.
The Stones’ Twitter post read:
“Two previously unreleased recordings from the Stones’ legendary 1977 shows at El Mocambo are out today!”
They wrote in the following post:
“The two tracks are taken from the upcoming album ‘Live At The El Mocambo,’ released in full for the very first time on May 13!”
