Suicide Silence recently released a statement about their longtime drummer Alex Lopex’s departure on the band’s official Instagram account. The band announced the musician who would replace him and their new single.
Former Blacheart Eulogy and The Funeral Pyre member Alex Lopez joined Suicide Silence in 2006 following the drummer Josh Goddard’s leaving. Since then, Lopez played with the band, but he didn’t perform on their sixth studio album, ‘ Become the Hunter,’ released on February 14, 2020.
The drummer who recorded drums was Ernie Iniguez, and the band stated that he replaced Lopez as their new drummer. Suicide Silence members highlighted that they agreed to part ways and shared their support for Lopez’s future projects. After revealing the departure, they added that Ingiuez would perform in their upcoming tour.
The band’s Chaos & Carnage Tour will kick off on May 6, 2022, in Sacramento and will finish on June 4, 2022, in Los Angeles. Suicide Silence said they would also release their new single ‘Thinking in Tongues,’ which is Lopez’s last work with them, on SiriusXM Liquid Metal on May 3 and every platform the following day.
The caption of Suicide Silence’s IG post read:
“Suicide Silence and our longtime drummer, Alex Lopez, have mutually agreed to part ways. We wish him nothing but the best moving forward and encourage you all to follow his future endeavors in both music and visual arts. Our good friend, Ernie Iniguez (who recorded drums on ‘Become The Hunter’), will be drumming with us on the upcoming Chaos & Carnage tour and European festival run.
That all said, we’ll be premiering a new single next week (Alex’s final studio performance with the band) called ‘Thinking in Tongues’ that we’re very excited for you all to hear. It will be premiering on SiriusXM Liquid Metal on May 3rd with a full digital release & music video on May 4th.”
