Nikki Sixx recently celebrated the 41st anniversary of Mötley Crüe’s live debut by reposting a flyer from that year. Sixx also answered a fan on Twitter regarding this post and said that that was the day he felt like he ‘made it.’

Mötley Crüe members found each other one by one. Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx started to jam together after they met. While looking for a guitarist, they came across Mick Mars’ ad where he was looking for a band to play with during gigs. After getting the trio together, Lee talked to Vince Neil, who he knew from high school. Although Neil was reluctant to join at first, he eventually did on April 1.

Throughout the band’s career, Mötley Crüe collected countless stories they talked about in the later stages of their tenure. After releasing their biography ‘The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band’ in 2001, they began working on their biopic to air on Netflix in 2019.

The band made its debut short after Neil joined. They announced their first live show on Starwood with flyers, and while the biopic showed that there was some fighting going on between an audience member and the band, the overall performance was huge for Nikki Sixx. He recently stated that he felt magic that night and like he ‘made it.’

Here is what Sixx reposted on Instagram:

“41 years ago, on this day in 1981, Mötley Crüe made their live debut at the Starwood in West Hollywood. Repost from Rip Magazine.”

Here is what the fan asked on Twitter:

“Do you still remember the feeling of that day? It would be nice to know something from you.”

Sixx replied:

“I remember walking on stage that night with Tommy, Mick, and Vince. I knew there was magic in those songs and how we played together. I felt like I made it that night.”
