During a recent conversation with The Garza Podcast, Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares explained that there is the proper timing for announcing the new singer. According to him, everybody will attack the new singer if he tells before the appropriate time.
Burton C. Bell spent more than thirty years with Fear Factory until he decided to leave the band in 2020 because he conflicted with Dino Cazares. Fear Factory’s 2021 album ‘Aggression Continuum’ contained his vocals despite his departure.
Dino Cazares revealed after the departure of Bell that so many musicians contacted him to be a part of the band. Although Cazares initially thought of choosing a female singer, he later indicated that the new member would be a male.
Previously, the guitarist stated that he wanted a new singer with a unique musical identity who could also represent the band’s past. Cazares also mentioned that he would like to introduce him to the audience with a new song.
Dino Cazares stated in a recent interview that he would announce the new singer before they went on a tour with Static-X. Because the tour was postponed, Cazares’ plans to announcement changed, as he mentioned.
Dino Cazares explained in his words:
“A lot of people are calling me out for not announcing our new singer. They’re saying, ‘What’s up? Were you going to announce a new singer? What happened?’ What I was going to do was announce the new singer just before the Static-X tour with Fear Factory that was supposed to happen right now.
So I was going to announce it; I was going to release a track just before the tour, just to get some hype for the tour and introduce the person. But the tour got postponed, and I went on tour with Soulfly as a guest guitarist and then all this other stuff.”
According to the rocker, if the people hear about the new singer, they will attack him. Cazares mentioned that he wants to announce the new member when the band releases the track, and there are several adjusted schedules for doing all of these events. As he explained, he has not announced the new singer yet to act appropriately according to the prepared timing.
Cazares continued explaining:
“The thing is if I announce his name right now, everybody’s going to attack — boom! They haven’t even heard him yet, and they’re going to attack him. So I want to do where I release a track. Everybody’s, like, ‘Release a track right now.’ Well, there’s planning involved. I don’t want to put a song out just to put it out and nothing behind it. So, in other words, what I’m trying to say is what most fans don’t understand is you want to create hype for something.
In other words, just before a tour, I would release a song with the new singer, and people would get excited — boom! You’ve got something to tour on. It would hopefully help generate more ticket sales, generate more interest for the band, blah blah blah blah. But if I release a track now, there’s nothing behind it, and it’s just whatever. That’s what most fans don’t understand — there’s planning, and there’s timing involved. So I’m withholding who this person is till the time is right. So that’s my thing that I’m saying to everybody right now, is that.”
