KISS bassist Gene Simmons introduced a new Gibson bass as his signature guitar in a recent video company shared on its official website and YouTube channel.

In January 2021, Gene Simmons announced that he would do a new project called ‘G², From Gene To Gibson’ with the Gibson company. He would introduce new collections, including electric guitars and basses across Gibson, Epiphone, and Kramer Brands. Simmons stated in a previous interview that they would release the G2 Thunder Bass to begin to collaborate with Gibson.

As Simmons mentioned before, he wanted to unify his creativity with Gibson when he learned about the company many years ago. Gene also informed the audience that the new guitars would be handmade.

Recently, exciting news came from the Gibson company. Gene Simmons G² Thunderbird Bass was introduced to people who have been waiting for it since that last year. Gibson shared their excitement to work with such a prominent figure in the rock community.

The company’s official website stated that Gene Simmons reflects his style on this new guitar. It was created to appeal to modern bassists, as Gibson mentioned. This new model looks like a classic Gibson Reverse Thunderbird. The guitar’s fretboard has diamonds on it, and the guitar also has a unique Gene Simmons logo.

The official website of Gibson wrote:

“Gene Simmons is a legendary rock icon and the bassist from KISS, and his new Gibson Gene Simmons G2 Thunderbird Bass reflects his tastes. Designed to meet the musical needs of modern bassists, it features the classic Reverse Thunderbird body and headstock shape. The G2 Thunderbird Bass is voiced with a pair of powerful T-Bird pickups, each with individual Volume controls and paired with a master Tone control. The bound ebony fretboard features Pearloid reverse split diamond inlays.

A Graph Tech nut and Hipshot Mini Clover tuners keep the tuning rock-solid, while the other end of the strings anchor to a Hipshot Bass Bridge. The back of the headstock features a G2 logo. The Ebony nitrocellulose lacquer finish is paired with Black Chrome hardware and a Mirror Plex truss rod cover, and a Mirror Plex pickguard with a laser engraved custom Gene Simmons logo. A modern hardshell case is included.”
