Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 talked about the names he worked with and got inspired by in an interview with Houston Press. The rocker mentioned Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford and compared him to a ‘robot’ with his musical skills.
As the lead vocalist of Judas Priest, Rob Halford has impacted the heavy metal scene with his powerful voice and style. In 2009, Halford became number 33 on Planet Rock’s list of greatest vocals in rock music by its listeners. Moreover, countless fans gave him the informal title, ‘Metal God.’
Rob Halford has impressed the people he worked with, like John 5. The guitarist had the opportunity to work with one of his idols when he and Halford formed the band ‘Two’ in 1996. They made a studio album called ‘Voyeurs,’ released in 1998. ‘I Am a Pig’ and ‘Deep in the Ground’ were the singles in the same year.
John 5 talked about the names like David Lee Roth and Marilyn Manson when asked about his influencers in a recent interview. Also, the rocker expressed his admiration for Rob Halford’s vocal skills by resembling him as a robot. According to him, Halford was so flawless in singing that he could not be a human being with these talents. John 5 stated it was unbelievable to listen to such a great singer.
The guitarist explained in his words:
“It’s weird. I think Rob is like a robot because he sings so perfectly every night. I don’t think he’s human because he was so on the money every night. It was very strange.”
Judas Priest’s icon’s success in the heavy metal scene has inspired significant names other than John 5. Most recently, Pantera’s Phil Anselmo mentioned Halford as his inspiration for the new album, thanks to his impeccable vocal techniques.
