A new batch of kittens recently entered the world last month, and they have Judas Priest's Rob Halford to thank for bestowing them with rock themed names. The self-professed cat lover was called upon by Los Angeles' Kitten Rescue to name the newborns, and rock fans should be pleased with his choices.
According to a posting in the Kitten Rescue chat, the new batch includes Starbreaker (a 348gram male cow kitten), Turbo (a 353gram female calico), Rocker (a 370gram male orange kitten), Angels (a 372-gram female white/cream kitten) and Taylor (a 374gram male orange and white kitten), with the latter being named as a nod to Taylor Hawkins. The cats come from "Mama Rose," who was named for Priest's "Last Rose of Summer."
The new cats can be viewed via Kitten Rescue's live cam and photos have been posted within the chat at this location.
According to Blabbermouth, Halford is also planning to auction off his personal collection of autographed cat T-shirts, with pictures to be posted on his Instagram account. The shirts will soon be featured on Kitten Rescue's auction site, with the proceeds going to help the organization's work on behalf of cats and kittens.
Kitten Rescue was founded in 1997 and features a staff and volunteer work force that places approximately 1,200 cats in new homes a year. Since their inception, they've place over 22,000 cats into new homes. All cats are spayed/neutered, tested for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas and microchipped prior to adoption.
Halford, as well as Nita Strauss, Rob "Blasko" Nicholson and others previously endorsed the shelter in a video testimonial.
For now, you can keep up with the activities of the playful kittens via the private room live cam (also seen below). Learn more about Los Angeles' Kitten Rescue organization here.
