Skid Row’s new singer Erik Grönwall mentioned during an interview with Smarts & Entertainment that he had been listening to Skid Row and trying to sing like Sebastian Bach before he became a part of the band.
Erik Grönwall’s winning the Swedish Idol reality show kickstarted his music career. He also gained attention from the rock and metal community by his performance of Skid Row’s ’18 and Life.’ Until he decided to continue his solo career, he was the lead vocalist of H.E.A.T.
In the previous month, Skid Row announced that Erik Grönwall would be the band’s singer, replacing ZP Heart. As soon as Grönwall attended the band, they released the title track ‘Gang’s All Here’ from the new album, which will come out on October 14, 2022.
In a recent interview, Erik Grönwall stated that he was listening to Skid Row by dreaming of becoming a singer like Sebastian Bach. He recalled how he tried to sing like Bach on karaoke nights in his hometown, Sweden.
As Grönwall mentioned, he could not believe that he had achieved this dream and has been working on a new album with the other members. He finished his words by saying that he was honored to become a part of Skid Row.
Erik Grönwall said in the interview:
“Surreal, definitely. I grew up listening to Skid Row, and when I wanted to become a singer, I was trying to sing like Sebastian Bach. And that’s what I did. I did that at karaoke nights in Sweden.
So it’s just surreal because I came into the band, and I started to do a new album straight away. I don’t just have to rehearse the old songs; I’m doing a new album. So it’s my voice on that. It’s surreal, and I’m so honored.”
