Instrumental rock guitarist Joe Satriani explained in an interview with Tales from the Road podcast that touring with Mick Jagger was a significant experience he had in his life.
Previously, Satriani talked about the high energy in the Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger’s tours, even if he played in small areas. In Jagger’s 1988 tour, Satriani had a chance to perform with him.
According to Satriani, Mick Jagger was so passionate about the music he did that he was performing the same big shows even for small audiences. He expressed his appreciation for Mick Jagger by stating that this was a priceless chance for him to play with such a great artist.
In a recent interview, Joe Satriani explained that touring with Mick Jagger was such a big event in his life that it felt strange when he remembered. Everything was magnificent because Jagger was very respected in every place they went.
Satriani enjoyed his time in gigs and luxury hotels while on the road with the Rolling Stones frontman. On the other hand, he felt odd when he saw the poverty in the world on television when he came back to his hotel room at night.
Joe Satriani explained how he felt while touring with Mick Jagger:
“There was only one that I thought was a truly cursed song. I don’t know why. It’s actually kind of funny in a way. When I was touring with Mick Jagger, it was a very weird situation at times because it was such a high, the highest level of touring I’d ever been on. It was always a red carpet. Wherever we went, everything was top of the line.
That was new to me, I remember after being at some great parties and playing these great gigs, and I’m in this beautiful hotel suite, and I go back into my room at the end of the night, and I turn on the television. There was this program about people starving, children not having enough to eat or drink, and I just thought, ‘This is weird.’ How could I be living this life, and those people are living that life? We’re all on the same planet, and it just didn’t make any sense to me.”
