Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider shared several posts on Twitter to refute the allegations that the song ‘We Are Not Gonna Take It’ was written about protecting traditional American values.

Dee Snider has supported Ukraine by being a part of the aid campaigns like ‘Stand Up for Ukraine’, which Ukrain President Volodymyr Zelenskyy started. On the other hand, Snider didn’t hesitate to criticize the Russian government, especially for blocking the sites that gave accurate information about the war to the Russian citizens.

Previously, Snider permitted people to use the song ‘We Are Not Gonna Take It‘ to respond to the Russian government. People were using this song as a protest in particular situations with the courtesy of Snider in the past.

In a recent tweet, a member of the Republican Party, Jerrod Sessler, said that the song ‘We Are Not Gonna Take It’ was written for protecting the traditional American values but now is going in a wrong direction because of its current usage.

Snider reacted by laughing because he was surprised by this untrue comment. In another tweet, Snider stated that what Sessler said was so unreasonable that even the people from his political view did not talk about it.

Dee responded to Sessler in his words:

“You think I wrote a song in support of ‘traditional American values?’ Haha! You funny.”

Snider added in another tweet.

Can we please thank Jerrod Sessler for giving us a much-needed laugh this weekend? With all the ugliness going on in the world, it’s been so great to read all of the funny responses. And the extreme right has been unusually quiet for the most part. Even they know he is an idiot!”

After this tweet, Sessler mentioned that he adopted the song ‘We Are Not Gonna Take It’ for finding similarities between himself and the child in the music video. He also added that the song talked about Americans because they have been rebels in the past.

In response to this tweet, Snider explained that he was glad to touch people’s lives like Sessler. However, according to Dee, thinking that the song was written to preserve conservative values and Snider has now changed sides means they do not know anything about him.

Dee’s tweet follows:

“Jerrod, I’m glad it spoke to you. Honestly. I wrote it for you & all others like you. But to presume that means my song is about “traditional conservative American values” & I switched sides shows a lack of understanding of who I am. I stand for the true majority, the moderates.”
