Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde recently gave an interview to Total Guitar and shared his thoughts on working with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Tony Iommi.

On February 21, 2020, Ozzy Osbourne released his twelfth studio album ‘Ordinary Man.’ He collaborated with successful musicians like Elton John, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Duff McKagan, Travis Scott, and several others for this album.

Following the release of his 2020 record ‘Ordinary Man,’ Ozzy Osbourne began working on a new album. During the recordings of this new music effort, the Prince Of Darkness worked with iconic names again, such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Tony Iommi.

In an interview with Total Guitar, Zakk Wylde revealed his thoughts about working with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Tony Iommi on Osbourne’s new album. He stated that he was pretty surprised upon hearing the news, and he just rerecorded the rhythm tracks as they had already recorded their parts.

Moreover, Zakk Wylde said Eric Clapton went from working with John Mayall and Cream to being a successful solo musician, just like Jeff Beck. After stressing that they are incredible songwriters, Wylde said this is why fans listen to Clapton and Beck.

In the interview, Total Guitar‘s Amit Sharma told Zakk Wylde the following:

“Speaking of legendary players, you must have been blown away when you found out you would be co-starring alongside Clapton, Beck, and Iommi on the new Ozzy album.”

As a response, Zakk Wylde said:

“Yeah! I was shocked when I heard it was happening, and even more when I heard what they played. They’d already recorded their parts, so I ended up rerecording rhythm tracks underneath what they’d done at my home studio. It came out awesome.

With Eric, he went from John Mayall and Cream to his solo stuff, and it was always tasteful. The same goes for Jeff Beck. The whammy bar is a big part of his sound; he treats it almost like its own instrument, which is amazing. Both of them are incredible songwriters. That’s the reason why we listen to them. It’s all about the musicality with those guys.”

Although Zakk Wylde didn’t contribute to Osbourne’s ‘Ordinary Man’ album, he went back to the studio for this upcoming record. Planned to be released in 2022, it’s no doubt that this album will be a unique experience for the fans.
