Thanks to their contributions, these guitar players were groundbreaking for guitar history and how the instrument changed over the years.
During a recent interview, Joe Bonamassa mentioned both Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen made a significant impact on rock music. According to him, Hendrix’s ‘Voodoo Child’ has the most noticeable riff because when someone hears it, they can identify that it belongs to Jimi without knowing. Bonamassa indicated that guitar playing changed after the innovations done by Jimi Hendrix and Van Halen.

“You know, when you talk about Jimi Hendrix, when you talk about what’s the definitive, most recognizable riff that he came up with, and to me, it’s always been ‘Voodoo Child.’ Because the minute you hear the first two notes, you can identify who it is and what’s coming up.
It was just a seminal old track that changed the game for everyone, guitar-wise especially. For people like Jimi Hendrix, there’s always pre-Hendrix and post-Hendrix, pre-Van Halen, post Van Halen. The guitar was a very different thing until Jimmy plugged in.”
