Sum 41 has a brand new double album coming called Heaven And Hell, and the Hell side is all metal. Vocalist and guitarist Deryck Whibley revealed in a recent interview that Heaven And Hell is split into a nostalgic pop-punk side on Heaven, and a metal side featuring "tracks closer to the band’s most recent sound" on Hell.
Now in a brand new interview with The Jasta Show, Whibley said Heaven And Hell is "somewhat of a nod to Black Sabbath" after host Jamey Jasta pointed out that Black Sabbath already did an album with that same name.
"There is somewhat of a nod to Black Sabbath. We're not gonna be covering anything, I don't think. Obviously we know the record and love the record, and we knew that you know, calling it this was… we kind of looked at it as like 'well, you know what? They've they've had it for like, about 42 years. We'll take it from here [laughs]."
Whibley added the band is still working on wrapping up the album and that new music is hopefully coming out "sooner than later."
"We're still really just focusing on the music and it's… the whole record is not fully finished yet. It's almost done. We're just kind of wrapping up the sort of end little bits. There's a little bit of vocals, a couple guitar parts. Not a lot to do, but you know – just the final sort of touches."
