In a recent interview with the Boston Globe, Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford shared his views about being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Judas Priest was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 and 2020. Even though many people thought they would win, they could not. In an interview, Richie Faulker mentioned that he found it weird not to induct them in it, considering their immense contributions to the music scene.

When the band was nominated again this year, Rob Halford encouraged fans to vote. He stated that this event is significant for both Judas Priest and the genre’s representation. Moreover, Halford said this would be a conquest for metal music if they win.

During a recent interview, Halford explained the meaning of being a part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He said that it means both respect and canonization. According to Halford, as a band that has spent many years in the music industry, being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is significant for heavy metal music. He expressed that the representation of heavy metal needs to have them at that place, which will happen eventually.

Rob Halford said in his words:

“Those are two great words, ‘respect’ and ‘canonization.’ I’ll take both of those because that’s what it is. For the Rock Hall, you have to put about 25 years of your life into music, which we’ve done twice. For us, it’s as much about heavy metal music having its rightful representation as it is for anything else.

The Hall is a beautiful place because if you really love music and you pull down all the barriers about, oh, I hate this band and I hate that band, I hate this music, and I hate that music if you could throw it out the window, music is music.

So what you’re left with is looking at all these incredibly talented, powerful musicians, either bands or individual artists, that have really poured their heart and soul out into their art, into their craft, and shared it with probably billions of people by now.”

As having an important place among the metal bands, it has been talked about Judas Priest not being a part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band members have encouraged the fans to vote as it is also essential for the representation of heavy metal. Also, this years’ inductees will be announced in May 2022.
