Danny Boyle’s Pistol series will air on Disney+ on 31 May 2022. Sex Pistols: The Original Recordings will be released on 27 May via UMC, the first time the original recordings have been available in over a decade.

The Sex Pistols famously released God Save The Queen in 1977, coinciding with the Queen’s silver jubilee. The track was a highlight for the short-lived band. The Pistols had been banned from the airwaves and dropped by their label A&M, but they signed with Richard Branson’s Virgin label, and the song was a smash.

The song reached Number 1 on the UK’s NME chart but appeared at Number 2 on the Official UK Singles chart, leading to accusations that the song was purposely kept off the top spot. For the only time in chart history, the track was listed as a blank to avoid offence to the establishment.

Pistol is Danny Boyle’s hugely anticipated story of one of the most influential and incendiary bands of all time. The cast includes Toby Wallace, Anson Boon, Louis Partridge, Jacob Slater, Christian Lees, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Sydney Chandler, Talulah Riley, Emma Appleton and Maisie Williams.
