Drummer Matt Sorum recently shared a picture of him and the late Linkin Park frontman, Chester Bennington, on his Instagram and paid his respect to the singer on his 46th birthday.
Although he had a pretty successful music career as the frontman of Linkin Park and a happy family with his wife and six children, Chester Bennington had been suffering from mental health issues for most of his life. Sadly, he was found dead at his home on July 20, 2017. Later on, it turned out that Bennington committed suicide by hanging.
In 2012, former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver member Matt Sorum founded a touring project titled Kings Of Chaos, which featured members of GN’R, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Def Leppard, Slipknot, and Cheap Trick. A year before his death, Bennington also performed with Kings Of Chaos during the band’s six-show concert tour.
On the day what would’ve been Chester Bennington’s 46th birthday, Matt Sorum took to his Instagram to share a picture of him and Bennington during a Kings Of Chaos performance. He then celebrated the rock icon’s birthday and said everyone he left behind always misses him and loves him.
Moreover, Sorum paid his respect to Bennington and stated it was a privilege and honor to perform with him on the same stage. He then said being around Bennington was quite joyful and praised the musician’s talents by saying he was a fantastic singer and human being.
Matt Sorum’s Instagram post read:
“Happy Birthday, Chester. We all miss you and love you always! It was always an honor and privilege to be on stage with you and a joy to be around you. An amazing singer and human being to his fans and friends.”
