Tool drummer Danny Carey recently joined an interview with the Cleveland Scene and mentioned the band’s plans for the near future. He confirmed the rumors of an upcoming album and stated that it would not take long this time.
Tool’s last album ‘Fear Inoculum‘ was released in August 2019. It was so successful that it became the number-one album on the Billboard 200 that year. Additionally, their song ‘7empest’ received the Best Metal Performance Grammy.
On the other hand, it was not only the enhanced and satisfying sound that made it special for the fans. Being the band’s first album in 13 years, ‘Fear Inoculum’ managed to excite the audience. After releasing ‘10,000 Days‘ in 2006, Tool remained unproductive for over a decade due to legal and personal reasons.
In the recent interview, Danny Carey explained what Tool did during that 13-year gap. He implied that this phase was beneficial for the band, and it worked out well. Then again, Carey gave the good news and said that a new album is on the way. Danny added that they are already working on a few new songs and aroused curiosity among the fans.
Here is what Danny Carey said:
“It was frustrating not having new material to play, but that time really flew by quickly. I guess that’s just the nature of life. It’s like when you have kids, and they’ve grown up, and you go, ‘What happened?’ It took a long time, but we did a lot of touring and tried to grow in different ways and take a break from each other to keep things fresh.
We also wanted to bring in outside influences, so we would have something new to say to each other musically. It all came together really well on this one. I’m sure it won’t take us this long for the next one. We even had some stuff left over from the last one that we’ll develop. We have head starts on three or four new songs.”
Although Tool released only five albums in their 32 years of presence, they are very active in terms of live performances. The band is currently touring across the USA, and they will be performing in Europe during April and May. They have upcoming concerts in 13 different countries. Blonde Redhead and The Acid Helps are the special guests of this tour.
