Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton is a big fan of golden age hip hop and other adjacent rap music, as the heavy metal musician showed this week when he listed his Top 6 favorite hip-hop albums of all time.
Keeping his picks within a 15-year range from 1988 to 2003, Morton included influential hip-hop artists such as N.W.A, Eminem and The Notorious B.I.G. in his best-loved rap albums. Interestingly enough, these artists aren't so far away from the rock sphere — Eminem recently was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; N.W.A and Biggie are already in the Rock Hall.

The Lamb of God guitarist was prompted for his hip-hop faves by a Lamb of God fan on Twitter on Wednesday (March 9).
"That's hard to do," the rocker responded. "Hip hop moves so fast and is so generational… but I'll give you 6… in no particular order…"
Among Morton's choices, Public Enemy and Jay-Z are likewise already included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A Tribe Called Quest is nominated alongside Eminem this year.
Lamb of God's latest album, their self-titled eighth effort, came out in 2020. It features thrashy metal songs such as "Ghost Shaped People," "New Colossal Hate," "Memento Mori" and "Checkmate." Last year, the Virginia-based groove-makers performed as part of the Metal Tour of the Year alongside Megadeth and Trivium; they're due to head back out with the package tour this spring.
