Black Sabbath icon Ozzy Osbourne revealed that he decided to move to the UK in his latest interview with Mirror and shared the reason why he and his wife Sharon Osbourne had to leave Los Angeles.
As the creator of various best-selling and multi-platinum albums and has an income from other side projects and shows, Osbourne started struggling with the taxes. The US federal tax rate, which is 28%, and an additional 13% state tax in California, didn’t leave Ozzy any other choice but to return to the UK.
Even though he’s currently one of the richest rock stars in the world, with a net worth of $220 million, it seems like Ozzy Osbourne didn’t want to pay a lot of taxes. Therefore, both he and his wife Sharon decided that moving to the UK would be better for their hard-earned fortune.
In his recent conversation, Ozzy Osbourne said he’s sad to leave LA because he loves living there, but the taxes made him do this. He emphasized that he will go back in case of any regulation for income taxes and unveiled that he’s taking his studio to the Welders. The Black Sabbath frontman stated he’ll continue creating and producing music in a barn that he will build to serve as a studio.
Osbourne stated in his interview that:
“We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad, but the tax is getting too much. I am sad because I really really like staying and living there.
If they do the taxes better, then I may come back. I do not know. I am taking my recording studio with me. I am going to build a barn there and make my own studio at Welders. I will still be making music, and my band will come over.“
The Osbournes are planning to move to the Welders House in Buckinghamshire, a national historic location that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne bought from Special Effects legend John Stears in 1993.
