Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor talked about meeting some of his musical heroes and what he felt while chatting with Alice Cooper during his recent appearance on Days of the Dead Atlanta.
Most people have idols and muses who followed their careers and wanted to be as successful as them. They also wished to meet them in person, which would be one of their happiest memories, but some thought that it would ruin the magic if they got to know their heroes in real life.
The main reason behind this way of thinking can be considered as seeing them as human beings with flaws and mistakes. However, Corey Taylor disagrees with this idea by highlighting that he feels fortunate to meet Mike Patton, Henry Rollins, and Alice Cooper even if he embarrassed himself sometimes.
Taylor revealed he was so excited to talk with Alice Cooper and added that he knew him by his name, which was not surprising considering Slipknot’s longtime success and popularity in the music industry. Taylor defined meeting Cooper as the ‘greatest moments of life.’ Also, years later, Taylor had a chance to collaborate with Cooper as a part of Rock For Relief which was a benefit show for supporting Feeding America in 2020.
Here’s what Taylor said:
“I have been very fortunate to have met most of my heroes. They’ve all been amazing. I met Mike Patton, and he couldn’t have been more generous. I shat my pants when I met Alice Cooper. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. He knew me by name.
Also, one of the worst moments of my life was when I made an absolute fool of myself in front of Henry Rollins. It was so painful. I’ll never get it back; it was one of those moments where you say it ‘No!’ You can’t get it back that way.“
