Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Tracii Guns reflected on his thoughts about Mammoth WVH founder Wolfgang Van Halen’s live performance after author Greg Renoff shared a video on his Twitter account.

Wolfgang Van Halen started his professional music career as Van Halen’s bassist when he replaced Michael Anthony in 2006. He gained great fame and proved that he’s a very talented musician during his tenure with the band, but some people thought he couldn’t have been there without his father, Eddie Van Halen.

Following Eddie’s death, Van Halen inevitably disbanded in 2020. As a result, Wolf focused on his solo project entitled Mammoth WVH and started working on a new album. The solo band released its self-titled debut studio album on June 11, 2021. The record achieved critical acclaim, and shortly after, Mammoth WVH began performing live to promote it.

It appears that as a person who has always cited Eddie Van Halen while talking about his influences, Tracii Guns also admires Wolfgang’s work. In a newly posted tweet, Guns revealed that Wolf’s recent live performance made him cry. He said this in response to Greg Renoff’s video from Mammoth WVH’s concert on March 2 at the Wiltern.

In his tweet, Renoff had noted that although the young musician’s first name is Wolf, everyone should remember that ‘his last name is Van Halen,’ which becomes apparent when he plays solos. It can be said that Tracii Guns realized that Wolf is as talented as his late father, especially after listening to his guitar solo.

Greg Renoff’s tweet read:

His first name is Wolf, but never forget, especially when he solos, his last name is Van Halen.

Mammoth WVH live at the Wiltern.”

Guns responded:

Makes me cry.
