Twisted Sister lead singer Dee Snider took his official Twitter account to respond to his fans’ reactions to his endorsement of the use of ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ for Ukrainian people but not for the anti-maskers.

As you probably know, Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ has become an anthem song and used for various protests worldwide. Some politicians also used it as the theme song for their presidential campaigns. Other than those, the song also appeared on a great many television shows, advertisements, films, and video games.

In 2020, after the emergence of the pandemic, anti-maskers gathered for a protest and ripped off their masks while playing the band’s iconic song. However, Dee Snider criticized the group and didn’t permit them to use the track for their causes. On the other hand, Snider recently reacted to Ukrainians’ use of the song positively, as they have been under the attack of Russia. Upon seeing his different reactions to both groups, people started asking him why he supported Ukrainian people’s use of the song while he didn’t allow anti-maskers.

Dee Snider described the anti-maskers as the ‘whining babies’ supporting the wrong cause. He faced a severe backlash from many fans after saying that. While most of them supported what Snider said, some criticized his different stance against the two groups. In his recent tweet, the frontman said that he was surprised that his tweet received this much attention. He was happy to see that most people agreed with him and supported Ukraine.

Dee Snider’s initial tweet about Ukrainian people using ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’:

“People are asking me why I endorsed the use of ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ for the Ukrainian people and did not for the anti-maskers. Well, one use is for a righteous battle against oppression; the other is an infantile feet stomping against an inconvenience.”

His later response after the reactions:

“I am blown away by the response to this tweet. The takeaway for me is most people think the anti-maskers are whining babies and support the Ukrainian people in their valiant struggle against true oppression.”
