Cannibal Corpse frontman George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fisher recently spoke to Metal Hammer and reflected on working with Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider. Fisher described him as one of the ‘greatest heavy metal singers‘ ever.
In his career spanning over thirty years, George Fisher contributed to all Cannibal Corpse albums apart from the band’s first four. Besides Cannibal Corpse, he has also been involved in various side projects and has just released his self-titled debut solo record on February 25, 2022. Two singles from the album, called ‘Acid Vat’ and ‘On Wings of Carnage,’ had already arrived before the release, and now the entire album is available on various streaming platforms.
In the past years, George Fisher teamed up with several artists and bands like Suicide Silence, Ice Nine Kills, and Heaven Shall Burn. He also collaborated with Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider on a single, named ‘Time To Choose,’ from Snider’s solo album, ‘Leave A Scar.’ During the interview with Metal Hammer, Fisher was asked who he has enjoyed working with the most.
The singer revealed that working with Dee Snider was an unforgettable experience. It was like a dream-come-true moment for him to be involved in a Snider record. George Fisher called Snider a ‘legend’ and also described him as one of the ‘greatest heavy metal singers ever.’ He noted that it was such an incredibly exciting experience that he could never have guessed that this would happen one day.
When asked about his favorite artist to work with, George Fisher responded:
“Working with Dee Snider is probably the one. Jamey Jasta helped produce that record and I remember sitting there listening to the mix, and he’s like, ‘that’s you, on a Dee Snider record – can you believe this?’ and honestly… People might say I’m a legend, but Dee Snider is a legend. He’s one of the greatest heavy metal singers ever, so for him to ask this idiot from Baltimore to sing on the record… That’s insane.”
