In their recent Instagram story, Green Day announced that they canceled their upcoming show in Moscow at Spartak Stadium, which would take place on May 29, 2022, due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

As you know, Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine has drawn worldwide reactions, and many artists and organizations have expressed they are standing in solidarity with Ukraine. The Eurovision Song Contest banned Russia from competing in 2022 to protest President Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine. Russian rapper Oxxxymiron also recently canceled his upcoming six concerts in Moscow.

Another reaction came from AJR, who canceled its upcoming concert date in Russia, scheduled for October. Many artists and bands like Bring Me the Horizon, Khalid, OneRepublic, Yungblud, and Judas Priest also have preplanned dates to perform in Russia. It seems like many more artists will cancel their concert in Russia in the coming days if the situation continues like this.

Green Day was scheduled to perform in Moscow at Spartak Stadium on May 29, 2022. However, in their recent statement on Instagram, the band announced that they have canceled their show considering the ongoing events. They stated that they don’t think it is time for a show as the situation is highly serious. They hope that there will be a more convenient time for them to come together with the fans again.

Green Day’s Instagram story read:

“With heavy hearts, in light of current events, we feel it is necessary to cancel our upcoming show in Moscow at Spartak Stadium. We are aware that this moment is not about stadium rock shows. It’s much bigger than that. But we also know that rock and roll is forever, and we feel confident there will be a time and a place for us to return in the future. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Stay safe.”
