Avenged Sevenfold lead singer M. Shadows was interviewed by Revolver Magazine and expressed his thoughts about a legendary Pantera song, ‘Hollow,’ which made him shed tears.

Pantera released their sixth studio album entitled ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ on February 25, 1992. It became some Pantera fans’ favorite album, along with hitting the charts and selling millions of copies worldwide. Various music websites and magazines listed the album as one of the best heavy metal albums of all time.

As a Pantera fan, M. Shadows has shown his respect and admiration for the band by citing it as their biggest influence many times. Also, Avenged Sevenfold covered ‘Walk’ to pay tribute to the band during their concert at the Ozzfest in 2006. Recently, the frontman revealed that another song from the album has held place for him.

Shadows stated that the album’s track, ‘Hollow,’ which reflects a person whose friend is in a kind of a coma and his suffering because of that tragic situation, made him cry. The song may have reminded M. Shadows of their late bandmate Jimmy The Rev Sullivan, who passed away in late 2009 due to an overdose. Its simplicity and incredible sounds and lyrics became the best way to end ‘Vulgar Display of Power.’

Shadows shared his favorite Pantera song by saying:

“I’m going to go with ‘Hollow,’ Just because it was such a way to end a record. It’s so simple. The lyrics make you cry every time. It’s just incredible. It’s an incredible way to end a record, I think.”

You can listen to the songs below.
